HOSTED ON THE 23TH OF SEPTEMBER 2023.
The environmental cleanup campaign was organized by Dreamers Hope Foundation in Partnership with Henrietta Foundation on the 23 of September 2023 at Limbe aimed to contribute to a cleaner and waste- free planet. With specific focus on addressing coastal pollution and promoting environmental conservation, our beach cleanup event sought to raise awareness about the importance of preserving marine ecosystem and minimizing the impact of plastic waste on the beach of Limbe and ocean life.
Our activity was centered on working in collaboration with local ministries such as the Ministry of Environment, HYSACAM, to remove debris and waste from the beach area, preserving the marine.
To foster a sense of responsibility and stewardship, encouraging ongoing efforts to keep the down beach of Limbe and ocean clean.
The event also sought to promote collaboration and community involvement in environmental conservation efforts.
The activity began at 10.05 am with the presence of volunteers the delegate of ministry of environment, hysacam team. Participants were briefed by the hysacam team on the safety and environmental guidelines before starting the clean-up activity. Education and discussion were provide by the delegate and the head of the hysacam team to provide insights into the impact of coastal pollution and the importance of sustainable waste management practices.
Later on, volunteers were paired to work in small groups through the beach area, collecting and sorting various type of waste, with specific emphasis on plastic materials.
The event attracted a diverse range of community members. The engaging and enlightening nature of the activity prompted active participation and yielded productive conversation about the importance of environmental stewardship.
A total of about 15 bags of plastic waste, debris and litters were collected from the beach area. A number of 20 volunteers actively engaged in educational session and discussion, broadening their understanding of marine pollution and waste management practices as well as actively participated in the cleanup, fostering a sense of shared responsibility for environmental conservation.
