HOSTED ON THE 13TH OF AUGUST 2023
The sensitization event on climate change and the effect of
plastic waste management organized by dreamers Hope foundation in collaboration
with OGCEYOD( Organization for Gender, Civic Engagement and Youth Development) was a significant step
toward creating awareness and fostering environmental stewardship within the
community. The event aimed at highlighting the impact of climate change and
plastic waste on the ecosystem while empowering individuals to take steps
towards sustainable living.
The event commenced with an opening session by Ms. Beltha
presenting on the objective of Dreamers Hope Foundation and the purpose of the
program followed by and informative session and engaging talk by Ms. Raisa who
talked on the consequences of climate change, with focus on local implication
and potential adaptive measures.
She went further to give a detailed talk on the impact of
plastic waste on the ecosystem, marine life and human health, aiming to evoke a
sense of responsibility and behavioral change among participants.
The event attracted a diverse audience including church
members make up of youths local residence and environmental enthusiasts. The
interaction was vibrant, and participants actively engaged in the educational
sessions, expressing interest and concern about environmental challenges and
the need for a transformative action.
Over 45 attendees actively participated in the session,
gaining valuable insights into climate change, plastic waste management and
their role in environmental conservation. The event also facilitated meaningful
discussion and reflection on the significance of collective action in
addressing environmental challenges, fostering a sense of environmental
responsibility among participants.
The event ended with appreciation from participants and a
group picture.
