The back to school event on the distribution of school materials and scholarship for meritorious pupils was organized by Dreamers Hope Foundation aimed at supporting pupils’ academic progress, alleviating financial burdens faced by families towards education. The event sought to provide essential knowledge and support for children performing well in their academics practices and raising awareness the importance of literacy and education and the benefits of accessing educational materials.
The activity was conducted on the 31st of May 2024 at Government School down Beach Limbe.
with the audience being pupil of group one, two and three, class 1-6, Head teachers and Teachers of Group one, Two and Three, Parents of pupils receiving scholarships, and Staff of Dreamers Hope Foundation, making a total of about 500 people who graced the event.
The program began with the arrival of project staff and welcoming of beneficiaries.
Before the distribution and award of books and scholarships to beneficiaries, a brief presentation was conducted by Ms. Beltha who delivered a talk about DHF, focusing on its Mission, Vision and areas of Intervention and the importance education to children and the benefits of seeking academic excellence.
A total of about 496 exercise books was distributed to all pupil from Class 1-6 from Group one, two and three. The first 3 of Class 1-3, Group 1,2 and 3 received a total of 6 books each, while class 4-6 received first 3 from group 1, 2 and 3 received a total of 9 books. The exercise books is to serve as a valuable resource for note-taking, homework activities and exam Preparations.
In addition to the exercise books, scholarships were awarded to deserving pupils of class 6 from Group 1, 2 and 3 based on their academic performance, financial needs and commitment to education. The first, second and third position pupils of class 6 Group 1, 2 and 3 were beneficiaries.
A total of 9 scholarships of cash were granted to 9 pupils in the following category
⦁ First position ( 30,000 FCFA)
⦁ Second position( 20,000 FCFA)
⦁ Third position ( 15,000 FCFA)
This stipends is to cover for students’ registration, books uniforms and any other education expenses as they move to secondary schools or the academic year 2024-2025, and also to motivate scholarship recipients to continue excelling in their studies.
