This report gives a brief summary of key takeaways and outcome of the event with specific focus on the plight of unaccompanied and separated Children (UASC).
The one day training focus on raising awareness to NGO’s, and Orphanages with children on improving the protection and well-being of these vulnerable children most especially by working towards reunification with family members whenever possible.
Some of the topics discussed were
_ Definition of UASC for participants to understand their definition, vulnerabilities and legal framework.
_ Highlights of numerous challenges faced by UASC .
_ Early identification, assessment and provisions of support were discussed.
_ addressing legal and social challenges, child centered approaches,
_ Building centered partnership to empower UASC.
The seminar successful raised awareness about UASC, their vulnerabilities And the importance of protecting their rights.
Participants gained a deeper understanding of the legal framework, challenges and best practices in supporting UASC. The seminar also facilitated discussion on UASC challenges with civil society organization and best practices towards solving them. Practical interventions to address the need of USAC within communities were discussed.
It was also emphasize that it is important to help UASC most especially by reunifying with family and in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs.
